Evaluation and Appointments
At the Center for Liver Diseases and Liver Masses, patients benefit from a team-based approach, with the initial evaluation handled by a hepatologist, a specially-trained gastroenterologist, and may include fibroscan.
Fibroscan is a new, non-invasive technology for assessing liver fibrosis (scarring) and fatty content, which helps reduce the need for invasive tests like liver biopsy. It is a painless test which can be done during a regular clinic visit.

Patients treated at the Center for Liver Diseases at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in partnership with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School have access to physicians and researchers dedicated to clinical innovation, meaning patients may be eligible to enroll and participate in active research studies and clinical drug trials
